If you are a woman and have been prescribed Zelnorm for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and have suffered severe chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden onset of weakness of walking or talking or any other systems of a heart attack or stroke please seek immediate medical attention.

Attention:

As of March 30, 2007, the FDA has notified healthcare professionals and patients that Novartis has agreed to discontinue marketing Zelnorm, a drug used for the short-term treatment of women with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation and for patients younger than 65 years of age with chronic constipation. FDA analysis of safety data pooled from 29 clinical trials involving over 18,000 patients showed an excess number of serious cardiovascular adverse events, including angina, heart attacks, and stroke, in patients taking Zelnorm compared to patients given placebo. Patients taking Zelnorm should contact their healthcare professional to discuss treatment alternatives and seek emergency medical care if they experience severe chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden onset of weakness or difficulty walking or talking, or other symptoms of a heart attack or stroke. Healthcare professionals should assess their patients and transition them to other therapies as appropriate.

Establishing the Facts

If you feel you or a friend or family member have been injured by the use of this product, you may need legal representation.  At Bell & Bands, we develop and present evidence linking your injuries to the use of a particular medical product. Given the fact that this product has been pulled from the shelf, evidence already exist regarding its dangers. In order to counter defense arguments from the pharmaceutical companies like Novartis claiming injuries were caused by a pre-existing condition or factors unrelated to their product, our personal injury attorneys consult with medical doctors and medical device experts, submitting evidence and proof in support of your case.  Your initial consultation is FREE.
