Are You at Increased Risk for Femur Fractures?
Throughout the United States, physicians have written more than 37 million prescriptions for Fosamax, a drug designed to treat and prevent osteoporosis in women after menopause. It is also used to increase the bone mass of men with osteoporosis.
Unfortunately, while the drug is supposed to inhibit bone breakdown for people suffering from osteoporosis, it has recently been linked to cases of subtrochanteric femur fractures. If you or a loved one has suffered one of these devastating injuries while taking Fosamax, it is important to discuss your situation with an experienced personal injury lawyer at The Bell Law Firm, PLLC in Charleston, West Virginia.
The risks of Fosamax have been chronicled on ABC's World News Tonight and Good Morning America. To arrange your free initial consultation with a lawyer, call 304-932-4225 locally or toll free 866-912-3007. We look forward to helping you explore all of your legal options.
Fosamax Linked to Femur Fractures and Jaw Injuries
A study in the May/June 2008 issue of the Journal of Orthopedic Trauma links Fosamax to femur factures. The study involved 70 patients who have experienced these fractures, which often occur when someone falls from a standing height or even lower. The drug has also been linked to patients suffering from osteonecrosis of the jaw.
