The sad truth is giant pharmaceutical companies and a handful of medical device manufacturers have put the public at risk by bringing dangerous or defective products to market. In this case Merck and Schering-Plough's drug Vytorin may be putting the public at risk of several severe side effects.
If a dangerous drug or defective medical device has caused you serious injury, Bell & Bands can explain your legal options and prepare your case for trial. Working with nationally recognized medical experts, engineers, and technicians, we work to establish fault on the part of manufacturers and demand financial compensation for our clients.
Vytorin
Vytorin is a mix of two drugs, Zocor and Zetia. This combination helps lower bad cholesterol better than Zocor alone. The Zocor blocks the production of cholesterol and the Zetia blocks the intestines from absorbing cholesterol. In a recent study, Vytorin cut bad cholesterol by 59 percent. It's rival Lipitor cut bad cholesterol by 53 percent.
The efficacy and risk of serious, life-threatening side effects of the cholesterol-reducing drug Vytorin have recently been questioned by prominent physicians and an investigative article released by the New York Times.
According to the December 21, 2007 article, the drugs manufacturers conducted two separate studies, which showed an elevated risk of serious liver damage but never published the studies.
Do I Have a Lawsuit? If you or a loved one have taken Vytorin and suffered from myalgia, rhabdomyolysis, hepatitis, pancreatitis, thrombocytopenia or any liver related injury or liver damage, you should contact us immediately. You may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and we can help.
Vytorin Efficacy Questioned by Members of U.S. Congress
In addition to the potential for serious liver damage, another study released in January 2008 questioned the efficacy of Vytorin (combination of Zetia and Zocor), as it showed no significant benefit in slowing atherosclerosis (plaque buildup) when compared to using Zocor alone.
Both doctors and some members of the U.S. Congress have complained questioning the negative results of the Enhance study that has been delayed, with some congressional leaders calling for an investigation.
One of every five Americans older than 20 has high levels of cholesterol. That can lead to heart attacks and strokes, the leading cause of death among Americans. With those alarmingly high numbers, it's no question why so many Americans take cholesterol-lowering medication such as Vytorin. But as with any other new medication, there may be hidden side effects.
If you or a loved one have taking Vytorin made you sick? If so, our Vytorin Attorneys can help, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact a Defective Drug Law Firm that will fight these mega pharmaceutical companies to protect your rights.

While these results are extraordinary, experts are worried. Vytorin has only half the original dose of Zocor. That means the benefits of the statin-style drug may be lost. Statins are known to lower the risk of blood clots and act as anti-inflammatories.

Establishing the Facts
As your legal representation, Bell & Bands develops and presents evidence linking your injuries to the use of a particular medical product. Given the fact that recalls have already occurred in the case of many of these products, facts already exist in evidence regarding their dangers. In order to counter defense arguments claiming injuries were caused by a pre-existing condition or factors unrelated to their product, our personal injury attorneys consult with medical doctors and medical device experts, submitting evidence and proof in support of your case.
