Jim Strawn Wins National Jefferson Award For Public Service

There are men and women of excellence who excel in their own right, and then there are men and women of excellence who make everyone around them greater. Jim Strawn, volunteer-extraordinaire and Director of Marketing at Highland Hospital, falls into the latter category.
Recently, Jim Strawns outsized contributions to West Virginia and our community have been recognized. Mr. Strawn is a national recipient of the Jefferson Award for Public Service. The award recognizes the outstanding volunteer contributions of elite individuals.
The Jefferson Award for Public Service is the premier public service award in the United States and is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of volunteering. Mr. Strawn has devoted hours, years and months of his life to ensuring that non-profit organizations in West Virginia continue to thrive.
In addition to donating funds, Mr. Strawn donates something even more valuable: his time. His wide-ranging involvement in organizations supporting children, hospitals, and art, demonstrates his commitment to the universal wellbeing of all of our residents.
Indeed, when asked about his devotion to public service and volunteering, Mr. Strawn responds that he wants to spread happiness and joy. His irrepressible good-humor and optimism have transformed the lives and perspectives of untold individuals.
